Kerrie Ann Frey

Founder, Trainer
As a freelance fitness writer, Kerrie Ann Frey always intended to acquire a personal trainer certificate as part of her professional development. She entered sprint triathlons, half-marathons and marathons to stay in shape and to continue to find story ideas. When she found out she was expecting her first child, she decided to get certified as part of her personal development.

Because all the rules for fitness change when you’re pregnant Kerrie Ann had a hard time finding a class that fit her fitness needs, she decided to establish her own. Fit Mom began in Audubon Park with Kerrie Ann training friends and friends of friends. The program evolved into an innovative, informal exercise program for women that allows babies to tag along.
The Chicago native went on to have three children total and oversaw the expansion of Fit Mom to include four more locations and hopes to continue to see moms enjoying exercise across the southern states in a Fit Mom program. Kerrie Ann continues to build the franchise options and provides instructor training. Additionally, she writes pre- and post-natal, Pilates and other fitness articles for national and local publications.
Kerrie Ann’s passion for fitness has grown to include a West Coast Pilates certification and a weight management specialization. She believes that happy, healthy moms will inspire happy, healthy children who want to exercise and live healthfully themselves. And only eat chicken nuggets once a month. Her fitness credentials include A.C.E. personal training, West Coast Pilates full apparatus training, NESTA Sport Yoga, Spinning®, and Lifestyle and Weight Management. She holds a B.A. and a Master’s Degree.
Most importantly, she is mom to Mae, Tucker and Charlie.
She can be found secretly watching “So You Think You Can Dance” and pretending to be a modern dancer in her bedroom on her off time.

Rebecca O’Reilly
Co-Owner, Trainer
Rebecca is the Audubon Park trainer and the leader of “Couch to the Cresecent City Classic” Trainer. The running coach mom and personal trainer who motivates like no other, it’s harder to believe she was one those people who was always picked last for games in P.E.

Never an athletic child, Rebecca felt uncoordinated and hated gym class. While she always wanted to be one of those “athletic” people, she could never get there. It wasn’t until the birth of her twins, in 2000, that her quest for athleticism (or at least “exercisism”) started to get serious.
Rebecca found herself unable to lose the weight from the twins. She had no other choice – she actually had to force herself to exercise. Slowly, the transformation to one of “those” people took place. Rebecca started running, entering 5 k races, half-marathons and triathlons. Not surprisingly to herself, she never won although her children expected her to do so every time.
Combining her new love of working out with her quest for a new career that would support her schedule with 4 young children, Rebecca became certified as a personal trainer and group fitness leader. Shortly thereafter, she collaborated with Kerrie Ann who had recently started Fit Mom and a small, but energetic empire was born. Maybe not an empire, but a really great group of dedicated, focused and intelligent moms for sure.
Recently she was overheard saying “We will make the world a better place, bringing back the pre-natal tush and making it even smaller as we go.” That really sums up her philosophy – and the Fit Mom mantra, Move it and Lose it.
The mother of Catie, Tappan & Sisson, and Marshall, Rebecca holds certifications thru IAFP, and AFAA, with a BS from Vanderbilt University that has nothing to do with fitness.

Kate Steven, Trainer

As a child, Kate always enjoyed playing outside and at recess but didn’t join a sports team until high school. She trained for one season of cross-country and then decided running for hours on end just wasn’t for her. Instead, Kate joined the high school tennis team, worked her way to No. 1 singles, and continued playing at the club level in college.

While she enjoyed kickboxing classes and working out at the gym, Kate never considered herself too athletic. She certainly never imagined teaching her own fitness class.

But when she, her husband and young daughter moved from Metairie, La. to Baton Rouge, Kate didn’t want to leave Fit Moms behind. There was no Fit Moms chapter in the capital city, so she decided to start her own.

Kate hopes the Baton Rouge chapter of Fit Moms will introduce her to other moms who enjoy exercising and talking about their teething and potty-training experiences.

Pregnant with her second child, Kate is due in early January.
